Frequently Asked Questions

How should I store my seed?

A common mistake is leaving seeds in a hot, metal garden shed becuase seed germination rates are significantly impacted by temperature and moisture. Exposure to a few days of 40-degree heat can severely reduce their viability. To preserve their quality, store your seeds indoors in a dry, cool cupboard, away from heat and moisture. This will help ensure they remain viable for planting when you're ready.

Are the seeds Genetically Modified (GMO)?

No. GMO seeds are only used by large scale farms and aren’t available to the general public. None of our seeds are GMO.

Are the seeds organic?

Certified organic seeds are quite limited in Australia. While some suppliers may claim to sell only organic seeds, it's important to verify their certification. If in doubt, always ask for proof of certification.

Our seeds are not certified organic, but we don't believe this impacts the quality of the vegetables grown from them. We use organic methods for our garden with these seeds and have no concerns using them.

How many seeds in each packet?

It depends on the variety. We have included how many seeds in individual varieties under each Variety Information tab above. The number of seeds in a packet are based on how we grow and eat veggies. For instance, 20 swiss chard seeds may not sound like much but it produces a LOT of swiss chard so for a normal family, you wouldn't plant all 20 at once, giving you Swiss Chard in the seasons to come.

How much food can I grow with these seed?

A LOT! When we were starting out, we definately over sowed our seeds and produced way more food than we could consume. The good thing was, our neighbours and friends also enjoyed our spoils.
